Special District Judge Alicia Littlefield is shown presenting a plaque to Dr. Karl Jobst of Grove in recognition of his time and efforts in helping the district drug court.

The drug court is a special court given the responsibility to handle less serious drug offenders. The mission of the court is to stop the abuse of alcohol and other drugs and to break the cycle of repeated crimes. The participant learns to be a productive member of society at the same time thus reducing crime.

Dr. Jobst has worked with several of the participants who had destroyed their teeth and had poor oral health due to methamphetamine abuse. Dr. Jobst has put several of the participants to sleep and performed extensive oral surgery, then placed prosthetic teeth. This gave them the ability to smile again and gave them increased confidence to become productive members of society again, said Dr. Jobst.

Dr. Jobst was able to also spend time in the courtroom visiting with Judge Littlefield whom he has been friends with for a number of years. Judge Littlefield considers the program to be very successful and thinks highly of it.
