Dr. Jobst recently received his instrument rating from the FAA. The instrument rating is one of the most difficult aeronautical ratings to get, allowing a pilot to fly simply by using the instruments in the plane.
This rating is mandatory when flying in clouds or in weather in which a pilot is unable to see outside the aircraft.
Written, oral, and practical exams are given by an FAA examiner to instrument rating applicants. Students must have also met a number of other requirements.
Dr. Jobst completed the training in 9 months using several local instructors, and now holds his private pilot’s license, instrument rating and high performance and complex endorsements from the FAA. Dr. Jobst was excited to have finished the instrument training and has now started work on his commercial pilots license. |
